Still Life Paintings
One of a kind, original paintings by Ellen A. Fountain, Tucson, Arizona
I started my fabricscape and appropriation series in the 1980's, and I continue to add works to both these series. I love their duality - they are both still life and landscape, and in some cases, a "stage" where a narrative story takes place. A place where penguin figurines, paper cutouts, toys, sewing notions and stuff I've picked up on beaches and byways become actors or props for a social commentary, an homage to a favorite artist, or to reference a childhood game. Pattern plays an important role in these pieces, as you can tell!
