I offer personalized one-on-one instruction and tutoring in watercolor at $20/hour, given at my home studio in the Tucson Mountain foothills. I also have video instruction for beginning painters (those with no watercolor experience) available for purchase on DVD. Watercolor on Gessoed Paper Acrylic gesso is usually used to prepare canvas or board for painting with acrylic or oil paint, but it also makes a unique ground for watercolor when used to coat paper. Gesso can be given a variety of textures while wet, and when dry, the paper is sealed. Watercolor paint behaves differently on the gessoed surface than it does on paper, and allows you to wipe back to the white gesso many times before the surface begins to stain. It's a great way to recycle unsuccessful watercolor paintings (you'll get two new surfaces to paint on as we coat both sides). We will prepare (gesso and texture) paper the first Saturday, and the second Saturday, we'll paint on them. Come experiment!
